How do I become a member?

All you need is:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.

  • Proof of graduation from high School or a GED with an overall score of not less than 45.

  • Possess Driver’s License or state issued ID and must possess Social Security card.

  • Each applicant must be physically able to perform all the work of the occupations covered by this program.

  • Must pass Pre-Employment drug test.

  • Must be willing and able to attend related instruction classes.

  • Must be willing to abide by the state-approved standards accepted by Apprenticeship Committee.

  • Must have reliable transportation.

 

Where can I apply for the apprenticeship?

  • Sign ups for the annual Apprenticeship Exam are accepted in person or online, from January - June of each year.  Come into the Union Hall located at 1015 Yuba St., Marysville, CA, between 7:30 am-4:30 Pm (closed 12-1 for lunch) and sign up for the exam.

  • Upon signing up, you will be added to our mailing list to be notified by email of our next exam date.

 

How soon do I start receiving benefits?

  • Members are required to have worked at least 390 hours for a signatory contractor.

 

Do I get credit toward apprentice/journeyman for work experience in the trade?

  • To be qualified as a journeyman you must have at least 5 years of work experience in the specific trade for which you are applying and pass a qualifying exam. Individuals with less than 5 years, may qualify for credit towards apprenticeship with the same qualifying exam to determine level of skill and knowledge.

How do I check in as a Traveler?

  • Please come into the Union Hall located at 1015 Yuba St., Marysville, CA, between 7:30am-4:30pm (closed 12-1 for lunch) and check in.  You must be released from the MOMS system; your dues must be paid through the current month and your bio must be updated with your dues status.

I moved!! Who do I call to update my information?

  • Please call the office at the hall at 530-673-8690 to change your address, phone number, email, or beneficiaries as needed.
